Love Tennis Day

I am a huge tennis fan ever since I was a kid. Through the years, I’ve been watching Sampras, Nadal and Federer on Grand Slams. It was even such a dream come true to see Rafa play live in Manila. Today I was able to play tennis for the first time in my entire life. I’ve never set foot on a lawn tennis grass before, held a racquet to play and taught how to hold one or do a forehand or backhand shot. All of these things happened together with my son during the Love TennisĀ  annual Open day in September. Paula who taught us was patient enough to explain each move. Rafa would have been so proud. All those hours of watching him play paid off.

That’s not all, it happened on NZ’s oldest lawn tennis club established in 1872. Can you imagine the sheer historical significance of this moment? I’m not worthy. Glory to God.

During the pandemic, my son and I used to play badminton in a small park inside our village as a way to destress every Sunday. It didn’t have a net and the shuttlecock would be stuck on a tree. I’m still in awe how three years later, we were in an elite tennis facility. Unreal.
